DR. PASCAL CHRISTEL ~ SPORTS MEDICINE & ORTHOPEDICS

Dr. Christel is one of the world’s leading orthopedic and sport medicine surgeons. As a longtime Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Paris, Dr. Christel has taught advanced orthopedic surgery to surgeons all over the world. In addition to being a Reviewer for the following prestigious journals: Arthroscopy; Am J Sports Med; Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery; Knee Surgery Sports Traumatology; and Arthroscopy (ESSKA journal), he has authored nearly 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and has delivered dozens of lectures and presentations to surgeons and other health care professionals throughout the world. 

Dr. Christel has performed extensive research into sports injuries and treatment and been awarded critical patents for his research. In addition to sports injuries, he specializes in both complete reconstruction and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and ankle. DR. RYAN PFEIFER ~ SPINE CARE

IWS is proud to welcome Dr. Ryan Pfeifer, the first North American, board certified, fellowship trained Interventional Spine physician to open a full time practice in China. Dr. Pfeifer’s impressive background balances academics/research and an elite minimally invasive, non surgical approach to relieving back, neck and joint pain. After graduating Medical College in New York and a one year medical internship, Dr. Pfeifer completed a three year residency in Rehab Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Pfeifer then completed his training with a one year Interventional Spine Fellowship with the renowned Performance Spine and Sports Physician Institute.

Dr. Pfeifer’s has substantial expertise and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of conditions including neck and low back pain, radiculopathy (pinched nerve in the spine), chronic pain, fibromyalgia, chronic regional pain syndrome, peripheral nerve pain, abdominal/pelvic pain, cancer pain and joint pain.  >>More about Dr. Pfeifer

DR. DAVID JONES ~ SPORTS MEDICINE & REHABILITATION

After completing an undergraduate degree in clinical sciences Dr. David Jones completed his post-graduate training in osteopathic medicine and rehabilitation medicine at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. Before coming to Shanghai, Dr. Jones worked in clinical practice in both Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia. During this time Dr. Jones also worked in tertiary education, spending five years lecturing in health sciences. Dr. Jones relocated to Shanghai in 2007 where he was the Chairman of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at one of China's largest international hospitals. For the past two years Dr. Jones has also been the Chief of Rehabilitation for the International European Masters Golf Tournament in China. He is also a qualified medical professional with the Titlist Golf Performance Institute. Currently Dr. Jones is the Clinical Director at the Institute for Western Surgery. Clinically Dr. Jones focuses on rehabilitative treatment for patients suffering from back pain, neck pain, knee and shoulder pain related to sporting injuries. Dr. Jones also has a special interest in treating symptoms related to vertebral discs injuries (sciatic pain, leg pain or arm pain). >>More about Dr. Jones
