FAQ

The following is a list of frequently asked questions about the Institute. If you would like to learn more about the Institute, please contact us.

Many institutions advertise that their surgeons are “Western trained”, how is the Institute different?

“Western trained” can mean merely a few weeks of training by average Western doctors. At the Institute, our faculty is not just “Western trained”. All of our faculty have existing surgical practices in the United States and are ranked among the top surgeons in the world. Our faculty are professors at respected academic institutions in the United States and frequently lecture internationally.

Why are these surgeons coming to China?

The Institute partnered with Guangdong Provincial Hospital to provide advanced training to the Hospital’s best surgeons in Western surgical techniques. While the Institute’s Western surgeons are in China working at the Institute, we offer patients access to be treated by our world class Western faculty, an opportunity that is not available anywhere else in China.

Do the Institute’s surgeons relocate to China?

Each month our top Western surgical teams come to China for a period of time to examine and treat patients, and follow up on patients seen previously. When our faculty is not at the Institute working with leading Chinese surgeons and treating patients, they are in the United States treating patients and teaching at universities, or lecturing around the world.

I understand the institute’s surgeons are great Western doctors, but how are the operating rooms and other facilities?

As you will see on the photo gallery tour of the Institute, our facilities are world class: the operating rooms are equipped with the most advanced technology using only the most modern, state-of-the-art equipment available. Unlike many international hospitals, the Institute does not borrow diagnostic equipment or send you elsewhere, but instead, the Institute has a complete inventory of the best equipment and cutting edge technology, including equipment by the top international health care manufacturers (e.g. GE, Philips, and Siemens.)

Should I be apprehensive about the care I will receive from the rest of the surgical staff?

Our faculty includes not only Western surgeons, but an entire surgical team as well. You will be in good hands with our comprehensive health care team, which consists of a surgeon, faculty nurse, and anesthesiologist. Moreover, our other specialists include leading radiologists, a world renowned physical therapist, as well as other sub specialists.
